With the pandemic still a factor of everyday life USDA has granted the go-ahead for children to receive free meals this summer.
The extension will run through September 30th. The department says the move will give local program operators clarity for the months ahead as the previous waivers had been good only through the end of June. The program offers meal distribution to sites that serve all children for free, regardless of income.
The waivers also allow meals served via the Summer Food Service Program and the Seamless Summer Option to be made available in all areas at no cost.
