EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University is getting smaller and officials are hoping to reverse that course. Enrollment has fallen four-and-a-half percent in the spring semester from the fall of 2020, with COVID-19 cited as a huge factor. The dip is even more significant compared to year ago spring data.
Most courses have been online-only and fewer students are on campus. A few more classes have been in person this spring, according to school officials.
Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan also both saw enrollment dip this spring.
