KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Greek eatery near the campus of Western Michigan University (WMU) has announced plans to close its doors and refocus on its food truck activities.
In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, the restaurant announced that it will be closing after 5 years of business at 2727 West Michigan Avenue.
Officials said the decision came due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as dwindling funds that would normally be obtained from running a food truck at festivals and other events.
However, the food truck operations will now be the main focus of the business.
“Both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids food truck events are starting to be scheduled and with some luck, the larger festivals will also return,” the statement reads in part.
The post says that this current week will be the last one the West Michigan Avenue location will be open.
Nick’s Gyros will remain open from 11 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, through Saturday, March 13.
