COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (WKZO AM/FM) – Western Michigan sophomore defenseman Ronnie Attard has been named First Team All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference, the league has announced Monday afternoon.
Attard is the second player in program history to earn First Team All-NCHC honors, joining Hugh McGing from last season. He is also the first defenseman in program history to earn All-NCHC honors and the first defenseman to receive league honors since Danny DeKeyser was named First Team All-Central Collegiate Hockey Conference in 2013.
The Philadelphia Flyers’ draft pick posted a career-high 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists, posting the most points in the NCHC among defenseman and tied for second in the nation. His eight goals led the NCHC and was second in the nation among blue-liners. He was named Bauer NCHC Defenseman of the Week three times during the season.
Senior forward Ethen Frank also received Honorable Mention All-NCHC honors. Frank led the Broncos with 12 goals on the season and totaled 19 points in 23 games. Frank’s goal total also tied him for third in the league.
Attard, Frank and the rest of the Broncos head up to the University of North Dakota for the NCHC Playoffs. The Broncos are set to take on third-seeded Minnesota-Duluth Saturday at 8:37 p.m. The game can be heard live on the Bronco Radio Network (96.5 FM).
