GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A joint effort between Battle Creek Police and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s office, following an aggravated assault investigation, resulted in an arrest Sunday.
Battle Creek officers located a suspect in a stolen vehicle which led to a chase. Authorities pursued the vehicle into Kalamazoo County where Sheriff’s deputies joined the effort. They deployed stop sticks which successfully deflated the tires of the suspect’s vehicle on I-94 near 35th St.
The suspect took off on foot and a K-9 track ensued. Two dogs tracked the suspect for 1.3 miles and the suspect was located hiding in a tree stand. He was arrested and faces multiple criminal charges. No injuries were reported.
The Battle Creek Police Department and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s office were assisted by Michigan State Police troopers and officers with Portage Public Safety.
