A new mentorship effort pairing historically underserved producers with conservationists is underway.
The Sand County Foundation located in Madison, Wisconsin is a non-profit private land conservation organization inspired by the work of Aldo Leopoldi. Since 2003 the foundation has recognized nearly 150 people in agricultural production for their efforts to improve soil health, water quality and forestland. USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service has awarded the foundation a grant to empower award recipients as mentors.
Participants will be able to draw on their expertise for technical and mentorship support.
