LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The federal government is planning to send money to 28 states, including Michigan, to assist them in seeking out unemployment fraud.
The state Unemployment Insurance Agency reports that hundreds of millions of dollars was paid out fraudulently last year, and the federal funding will be used to fund additional staffing to hunt down false claims and recover the money.
New technology to assist in the effort will also be paid for with the funds.
