The Environmental Protection Agency plans to revamp its approach to selecting science used in chemical risk evaluations.
This new direction will be used to inform Toxic Substances Control Act chemical risk evaluations. The move is part of the agency’s efforts to act on the administration’s goal of making evidence-based decisions in relation to the Toxic Substances Act. It’s also part of their review of the first ten of those risk evaluations.
The review will be done after directives made by the Biden-Harris administration ensuring all agency actions meet statutory obligations while protecting human health and the environment. EPA plans to take public comment later this year.
