LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan dropped by a small amount over the last seven days, but generally, prices are expected to keep moving higher headed toward the spring season, according to AAA.
They blame it on a drop in crude inventories along with higher demand for gasoline.
“Crude and pump prices are likely to continue to move higher as crude inventories continue to drop and utilization increases,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Based on current trends, drivers will likely see pump prices continue to increase ahead of spring.”
Prices at the pump dropped three cents compared to a week ago for a statewide average $2.47 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 13 cents more than this time last month and 4 cents more than this time one year ago.
