KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A police chase beginning in Indiana came to an end in St. Joseph County Saturday.
The pursuit originated in Elkhart County Indian, and was picked up around 8 pm by both the White Pigeon and Constantine Police Departments in the area of Riverside Drive and Blue School Road. The suspect was driving at a high rate of speed and was all over the roadway and going into oncoming traffic.
Deputies intercepted and joined the pursuit on Lutz Road near Mintdale Road. The pursuit continued North on Lutz Road before turning North East on Centreville Constantine Road.
Deputies were able to successfully deploy stop sticks again at Centreville Constantine Road and Kuhlmeyer Road.
The suspect vehicle continued East through the Village of Centreville and onto M86 on two rims, passing through Nottawa and then crossing the M86 andM66 intersection. Once on Bonham
road the suspect vehicle continued East bound before turning South on Lepley Road.
The suspect nearly struck a police vehicle head on before going into a ditch and a cornfield. The driver attempted to flee on foot and was arrested without incident soon after.
The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges including fleeing and elude and resisting and obstructing.
