KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Safety responded Friday evening to a report of yet another fire at the homeless encampment at Mills and O’Neil.
When officers arrived at around 7:05, they discovered several tents located near the Kalamazoo River on fire.
The fires were brought under control in about 10 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The Fire Marshall’s office is currently investigating the incident.
Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 488-8911 or Silent Observer at 343-2100
In stead of sending a truck to the campsite, MAY I suggest we park a truck on scene, with a crew, watch for fire dangers and teaching people how to handle fire and propane. Plus a crew to protect the truck as people will feel violated and damage the truck including explosion. Some people consider help an violation and intrusion! Push enough help away and you may find yourself alone.
