KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The new COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7. first appeared in Kalamazoo County last week, and health director Dr. William Nettleton is providing some updates. The biggest issue is how much easier the variant spreads.
“On a community wide level, there is an increased chance of more people becoming sick and having more severe consequence like hospitalization.”
Nettleton says residents must continue to take precautions like wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings.
“We’re still smack dab in the middle of this pandemic and we have to keep doing these things to persevere.”
