DETROIT, MI — General Motors hourly workers represented by the United Auto Workers union are in line to receive up to $9,000 in profit sharing in the next few weeks, according to the Detroit News.
GM has 44,000 hourly workers eligible for profit-sharing, which is expected to be paid out by the end of February. Last year’s profit sharing checks averaged $8,000 for the rank and file.
There are an estimated 4,000 GM employees in the Lansing region. The automaker operates a facility in Delta Township along with Lansing Car Assembly just south of downtown Lansing.
GM reported a four-point-five-percent drop in their profit for 2020 on Wednesday. The automaker says they had a strong second half of the year which helped the company make a profit of over two-point-eight-billion-dollars.
