BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Calhoun County authorities are reporting an inmate death that happened at the county jail over the weekend.
In a release, they say a 58-year-old man, whose name hasn’t been released, died in the late morning on Saturday, February 5. The individual is said to be a U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee. The death appears to have resulted from natural causes, and not related to COVID-19.
An autopsy will be performed by the Calhoun County Medical Examiner. The death is being investigated by the Michigan State Police as an outside agency, which is protocol for situations like this.
