BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police in Battle Creek arrested a man on several charges after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, and then assaulted her children and a puppy.
Police were called at around 12:40 Saturday afternoon to a home in the 200 block of Graves Avenue. A 37-year-old victim told officers an argument spiraled out of control between her and her 29-year-old live-in boyfriend. He is accused of grabbing her hair and slamming her head into the floor several times. Two teenage sons tried to come to help their mom, but he then began assaulting them and also started strangling a 4-month-old puppy at the home.
Police found the boyfriend on the porch of the house with several injuries when they arrived. He claimed the woman and boys attacked him but said little else.
The boyfriend was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and animal cruelty.
