KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for several areas in Southwest Michigan.
The alert concerns the counties of Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Barry, Van Buren and more. It will be in place until at least 4 p.m. Friday, according to the NWS.
Residents may see between 3 to 5 inches of snowfall, with wind gusts of up to 40 MPH through Thursday night and Friday. Wind chills will be around zero degrees on Friday.
Officials say residents should plan on slippery road conditions, along with blowing snow that can reduce visibility. These conditions are expected on Thursday evening, and are expected to be worse on Friday.
In addition, the snow is expected to create near-whiteout conditions at times on Friday.
Drivers should travel slower and use caution while traveling in these conditions.
