KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo police responded to two crimes within a half hour Tuesday evening.
The first one was a shooting reported around 9:35 p.m. near the intersection of South Park Street and Balch Street. Officers located a victim, a 32-year-old from Portage, with a gunshot wound who was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No suspect has been located in this case.
Shortly later, just before 10:00 p.m., Kalamazoo officers responded to reports of an armed robbery in the 3000 block of South Westnedge. Officers located three victims who said they were robbed of several items at gun point. One of the victims was injured saying they were struck in the head with a firearm during the incident. The suspects then fled northbound on South Westnedge in a gray sedan.
No descriptions of the suspects have been reported. At this time, Kalamazoo investigators have not indicated if they believe the two incidents might be related to the same suspect or suspects.
