ST. JOSEPH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Monday, the Michigan State Police (MSP) announced the arrest of a St. Joseph man for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material and using a computer to commit a crime.
The investigation was launched by the Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit in Coldwater when a suspect was found to be downloading a large amount of child sexually abusive material (CSAM). The suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Alexander Paul-Ticknor Rendell.
A search warrant was conducted at Rendell’s residence and digital evidence was seized, and an interview with Rendell was conducted on scene. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation and search warrant.
An arrest warrant was issued for Rendell and he was subsequently arrested on January 29. He has been charged with Aggravated Possession of CSAM.
The MSP Computer Crimes Unit is now encouraging parents to speak to their children about the safe use of the internet. There are many resources available to parents to assist in keeping children safe online.
