DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The average price for gasoline in Michigan is now the highest its been in over a year.
According to AAA, prices are up 12 cents compared to a week ago at $2.39 per gallon on average for regular unleaded. This price is 15 cents more than this time last month.
Despite the rise in gas prices since the beginning of this year, bigger gains in crude oil have been limited by ongoing market concern that demand may take more time than expected to recover this year due to new COVID-19 infections and associated travel restrictions.
“Sustained crude oil prices above $50 per barrel have helped push pump prices in Michigan to the highest levels since February of 2020,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA – The Auto Club Group.
AAA says gas prices will likely hold steady or see moderate increases through this week.
- Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($2.43), Jackson ($2.41), Ann Arbor ($2.40)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Traverse City ($2.28), Saginaw ($2.37), Lansing ($2.38)
