OTSEGO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle in Allegan County was struck by an alleged drunk driver who then fled the scene Thursday evening.
At around 6:00 p.m., the deputy was investigating a crash on Jefferson Rd near 19th St in Otsego Township. While the deputy was inside his patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated, the patrol vehicle was struck by a truck on the driver’s side. The truck driver then sped off. A short pursuit ended when he pulled in to a driveway. The operator of the truck, a 42-year-old Allegan man, was arrested for the suspicion of operating while intoxicated.
Both the truck driver and deputy were taken to a local hospital and were said to have suffered minor injuries.
