PARK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect involved in a hit and run incident that included an assault.
The department says the incident took place Monday at a gas station in the 2000 block of M60, located in Park Township. The suspect vehicle allegedly struck the building around 1:15 p.m. at a high rate of speed.
A clerk working at the time confronted the driver about the crash, but the suspect assaulted the clerk before fleeing eastbound on M60.
While the building sustained moderate damage, no injuries were reported.
The suspect vehicle is described as a red GMC Jimmy-style vehicle with a black back hatch and a Michigan registration plate.
The suspect was described as a white male in his 40’s wearing a gray stocking hat and a winter coat that possibly had a logo for a plumbing company on it. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Deputy Mark Mellinger at 269-467-9045, ext. 327.
