PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A special meeting was held earlier this week as the School Board of Portage Public Schools approved appointing a new member. Keith Crowell will serve the remainder of the term left open with the passing of Trustee Joanne Willson in December of last year.
Willson had served on the Board since 2010. Crowell was one of 6 candidates who applied to fill the vacancy. Five candidates were interviewed at a special meeting prior to the vote. One candidate withdrew from consideration prior to this evening’s interviews.

He has four children who are graduates of Portage Public Schools. He is also a member of the Portage Education Association Board.
He will serve until a successor is elected to fill the seat at the November 8, 2022 election. Crowell will attend his first meeting at the Board’s Organizational Work Session on Monday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m. and will be sworn in at that time.
