PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage announced Monday that it is encouraging residents to apply for positions in local government by serving on an Advisory Board or Commission.
The Portage City Council will be interviewing applicants for position openings on January 12, 2021.
According to the Council, all boards are currently accepting applicants, with current vacancies and expiring terms on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Portage residents who are registered voters in the city, and are interested in getting involved, are encouraged to visit portagemi.gov/151 to view meeting times and responsibilities.
Those interested can also apply at that link, or they may also contact the Office of the City Clerk at 269-329-4511.
The City of Portage relies on citizen participation on many advisory boards and commissions to help to serve the community,” City officials said in a written statement. “The advice received from these groups assists the City Council and the City Administration in making Portage A Natural Place to Move!”
Applications must be received by January 8 to be considered on January 12.
