WASHINGTON DC (WKZO AM/FM) – A bill sponsored by Michigan Sen. Gary Peters, designed to help communities along coastal waters deal with rising water levels and disasters when they occur, is now headed to the President’s desk.
The proposal, called the Storm Act, would provide 200 million dollars, and will give local governments latitude on how to spend the money, which is a loan program.
States would issue the funds to the local units, which would not be available to individual property owners who have suffered damage due to water erosion.
