BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One woman is in custody after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported Wednesday.
The Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) confirmed with the Enquirer that charges of murder are being sought against the unnamed 65-year-old female suspect in this case.
The department says 61-year-old Walter May was stabbed nine days ago, but died Monday. At that time, medical personnel had been called to a residence on College Street on a report of May having breathing problems, later dying at the scene.
While police are currently waiting for an autopsy report, they told the Enquirer that May died of a stab wound.
Originally, police were called to the residence on December 5 on a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found May, who had been stabbed in his chest, along with his girlfriend. Despite May stating that he didn’t need medical assistance and denying that there was an altercation, he still received medical attention.
Since neither of the two had cooperated with the investigation, no charges were initially filed.
The Enquirer also noted that the woman may be arraigned as soon as Thursday as long as the charges are approved.
This is an ongoing case and will be updated as more details come to light.
