LANSING, MI — Michigan’s 16 presidential electors meet today in Lansing to formally cast their votes for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
An official with the Michigan legislature says both the state House and Senate office buildings will be closed today due to security threats. Protesters are expected to be at the Capitol building in downtown Lansing this afternoon.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s office will livestream the event, beginning at two o-clock this afternoon.
President-elect Biden beat President Trump by more than 154-thousand votes in Michigan, according to certified results. The president and his allies have tried repeatedly to overturn the results in Michigan but state law requires electors to cast their votes for Biden and Harris.
