BCFD looking into cause of Thursday night Elm Street fire

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The cause of a Thursday night fire at 35 Elm Street in Battle Creek is unknown at this time.

The Battle Creek Fire Department says they were called to the two story property owned by Stephanie Smith at 7:34 p.m..

It was unoccupied at the time. Smoke was showing from multiple windows on the two floors when the first firefighters arrived.

Crews were able to gain entrance to the second floor with ladders to put out the fire in hard to reach areas. They were on the scene for almost three hours.

Damage was reported throughout the house. No injuries were reported.
