BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The City of Battle Creek is looking to change their waste hauler services from Waste Management to Republic Services.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that Battle Creek residents have complained about Waste Management pickup delays over the last several months. Mayor Mark Behnke was quoted as saying it’s one of the top complaints they have received for the past four months.
Waste Management has been plagued by staff shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Enquirer reports Republic Services has offered a plan for the next five years that is $6.1 million less than Waste Management’s bid of over $22.8 million.
The Battle Creek City Commission is scheduled to make a decision next Tuesday.
