KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Health Department has received a new ultra-low freezer that is intended to store doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
Department Director Jim Rutherford said that the freezer is currently ready to receive that vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, possibly as soon as the middle of December.
The vaccine produced by the two companies has to be stored at about 94 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.
Those getting the vaccine will receive two doses, given three weeks apart.
Kalamazoo County is one of 12 regional distribution hubs in Michigan.
