KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A broad daylight shooting incident happened at one of Kalamazoo’s busiest intersections Friday afternoon.
Just after 4:00 p.m. Kalamazoo Public Safety Department officers responded to the intersection of West Michigan Ave and North Westnedge Avenue regarding reports of gunshots being fired at a car. Witnesses stated that a male subject had fired gun shots into a car at the intersection and then left the area on foot.
As KDPS officers arrived in the area, the victim called 911 to report that he was shot at by a known subject.
A K-9 track for the suspect was done but the suspect was not located. Although the suspect was not located, Kalamazoo police officials say there is no threat to the public at this time and the incident appears to be isolated as the victim and suspect are known to each other.
The victim was not injured but the vehicle he was in was struck by gunfire.
