DETROIT, MI — Former Michigan State University men’s basketball star Keith Appling was sentenced to 18 months of probation for an arrest in early 2020. He was sentenced earlier this week via Zoom by Circuit Judge Edward Servitto.
Appling, 28, was arrested earlier this year after being stopped by police on Dequindre Road in Warren, Michigan, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
Police in their report said Appling was sweating and unsteady when he was pulled over. Police say they found a golf ball-sized amount — 19 grams — of heroin was found in a sandwich bag hidden in the car.
Appling pleaded guilty in October to controlled substance-delivering/manufacturing less than 50 grams and operating without a license on his person, according to the Free Press report.
