One part of the agriculture economy appears to be doing very well as we get ready to wrap up what’s been to say the least, a challenging year for most. At Christmas tree lots around the country 2020 is breaking sales records. That’s according to Tim O’Connor of the National Christmas Tree Association. He credits the pandemic with driving sales above recent seasons. Growers are reporting customers, who’ve spent much of the last 10 months at home simply wanted to have a real family Christmas – complete with a live tree. O’Conner says for many this year’s tree is the first in many years. Some lots and choose-and-cut farms opened a week early and the only concern now is if there will be enough product to cover demand through the next couple of weeks.
