KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo police say a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint last night, with at least one shot being fired into the vehicle.
Around 11:00 p.m. Monday a Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer heard a gunshot and glass breaking. A short time later, a victim called 911 to report that a vehicle had been taken at gunpoint. During the investigation it was learned that the victim had been sitting in a vehicle when the suspect, described as a black male wearing a red hoodie with a black face mask, approached the vehicle and threatened to shoot him. One shot was reported to be fired into the vehicle.
The victim escaped from the vehicle and the suspect stole the vehicle and fled the area.
Officers located the victims’ vehicle a short time later and a KDPS K9 was used to attempt to locate the suspect. The suspect was not known to the victim and was not located during the K9 track. The victim was uninjured.
