BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspect in the robbery of a 75-year-old Battle Creek man on September 25 has been arrested.
Battle Creek Police and Michigan State Police arrested 29-year-old Curtis Lee Smith on Monday in the Lansing area. He was later taken to the Calhoun County Jail.
Police say when they responded to the robbery, they found the man lying on West Goguac Street.
They determined he was robbed, and then run over by the suspect’s vehicle as the suspect left the scene.
At that time, LifeCare Ambulance took the victim to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo in critical condition. He remains in a local hospital in stable condition, continuing to recover from his injuries.
Detectives identified Smith as the suspect in September but authorities could not find him.
A warrant for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder was issued for Smith on October 26.
