PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Some Portage Schools students could be returning for face-to-face classroom instruction after the first of the year.
The Portage Public Schools Board of Education Monday night approved a limited face-to-face learning option for high school and middle school students, by updating its Return to Learn Preparedness Plan.
According to the plan, the district would consider the COVID-19 infection rate, the number of families who select face-to-face, and staffing considerations.
An all-virtual option would still be available, and a hybrid plan could still be considered.
Virtual town hall meetings will allow families to ask questions on the two enrollment choices. Families of high school students will be able t participate in town hall meetings scheduled November 30 – December 3. A town hall meeting for middle school families will be held December 1.
Portage School officials says parents would have a deadline of December 3 to decide on the option for their child.
