PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage is reporting a wastewater overflow that occurred Sunday night at Davis Creek Apartments.
Around 8 p.m., officials say the overflow was detected in a sewer manhole in a parking lot of the apartments. The overflow was caused by a blockage in the sewer pipe.
Officials say around 500 gallons of wastewater were discharged onto the parking lot. Proper cleaning of the lot was completed, and no health impacts are expected from this incident.
Wow , we had twice that amount of sewage in our basement. The city of Portage denied any liability and left us on the hook for thousands in clean up and repair as a result of a local business dumping grease and allowing hygiene products to be disposed of in the sanitary sewer system. I suspect this was reported because it was in view of the public.
