EAST LANSING, MI — The mascot of the Michigan State Spartans, known worldwide as Sparty, will go on hiatus through the end of November. During that time Sparty will be unavailable to work any special events.
Officials from the university say that the decision was made due to safety reasons, in light of recent COVID-19 DHHS orders that closed bars and restaurants and further limit capacity for gatherings of any kind.
Sparty’s handlers say most of the events he had been attending have been virtual.
