Traffic stops nets stolen weapon and narcotics in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) – A traffic stop early Saturday morning netted Kalamazoo Public Safety authorities a stolen firearm and some narcotics.

Officers were monitoring the intersection of Alamo and Douglas due to recent crowds gathering and X-Train activities at around midnight, when they made a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Alamo.

A suspect eluded officers briefly, and an assault rifle that had been reported stolen was found in the vehicle, along with some narcotics.

The 19-year-old suspect, from Kalamazoo, is currently lodged in the County Jail.
