KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There were three more shooting incidents in Kalamazoo Thursday, but at this point police don’t know if they are related.
At 1:08 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 500 block of Clinton Avenue for a report of shots fired. Responding officers spoke with witnesses and located several spent shell casings. The witnesses reported that two vehicles, a red Dodge Challenger and a black sports car with red racing stripes, possibly a Camaro or Charger, were seen leaving the area at high speed just after the shots were heard.
No suspects or intended targets have been identified.
At approximately 1:14 pm, Public Safety Officers responded to the 1000 block of Egleston Avenue for a report of additional shots fired. Witnesses in the area reported seeing a light blue SUV driving east on Egleston at high speed. A black male wearing a gray hoodie was seen running after the vehicle, firing a handgun towards it.
No suspects or intended targets have been identified, however a house in the 1100 block of Egleston was struck by stray gunfire. Nobody was injured.
At approximately 1:51 pm, Public Safety Officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a victim who had been brought in with a gunshot wound. The victim, a 21 year old female, reported that she had been walking on Washington Avenue when an unknown suspect began firing a handgun. The victim reported being struck by stray gunfire. Her wound is not life threatening. The victim was unable to identify the suspect.
