LANSING, MI — Federal money needs to be repaid by the city of Lansing to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for mismanagement by a former city employee.
An audit turned up evidence that Joan Jackson Johnson placed over a million dollars with nonprofit charities she was involved with without disclosing that. Over 200-thousand dollars has to be paid back, and the city is asking to have until January.
Johnson retired in February after 13 years with the city.
