KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is investigating three separate shootings that all occurred on Monday, November 9.
The first shooting took place near the 1700 block of Center Street around 2:30 p.m, where officers arrived on a report of gunfire.
Officers located two subjects suffering from gunshot wounds, as well as an involved vehicle that had been struck by gunfire numerous times. Officers provided medical attention to the two subjects and they were both transported to local hospitals for additional medical treatment.
Both subjects are in stable condition at this time, and their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
No other information in this case is currently available.
The second shooting incident Monday happened around 5:45 p.m., where officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South Rose Street for another report of gunfire.
Officers converged on the area as witnesses gave out descriptions of multiple vehicles involved.
A responding officer then located one of the described vehicles fleeing the area. Upon stopping the vehicle, the lone occupant appeared to be suffering from a graze type gunshot wound.
The officer saw a firearm in the vehicle upon approach and detained the occupant, later discovering that both the firearm and the car where both stolen.
The subject was transported to a local hospital for additional treatment, and the injuries sustained appear non-life threatening.
The suspect, a twenty-four-year-old Kalamazoo resident was later lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on several weapons charges and receiving and concealing a stolen automobile.
However, in this case, it is believed that several other involved subjects are currently outstanding. No other information is currently available.
A short time later at 6 p.m., officers were called to a third shooting incident in the 800 block of Woodbury Avenue.
Officers arrived and discovered two houses that had been damaged by gunfire. While investigating, it was discovered that numerous children were present in one of the homes, but no injuries were sustained.
Police say the vehicle involved can only be described as a smaller sedan, according to a statement made by the department. No other information is available at this time.
