ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) – Don’t look for the Michigan Wolverines in the Football Coaches Poll this week. Michigan fell out of the top 25 after a 38-21 loss Saturday at Indiana.
It was the first time in 33 years Michigan lost to the Hoosiers. Joe Milton threw for 344 yards with three touchdowns and two picks in the loss. Michigan drops to 1-and-2.
Alabama is the new number-one in the Coaches Poll. The 6-and-0 Crimson Tide are followed by 7-and-0 Notre Dame and 3-and-0 Ohio State. Previous number-one Clemson fell three spots to fourth following Saturday’s 47-40, double-overtime loss to Notre Dame in South Bend.
If this was a prize fight, the referee would have stopped it in the second round. The Hawkeyes were up by 35 points in the second quarter in a 49-7 rout of Michigan State at Iowa in a Big Ten game. Spartans quarterback Rocky Lombardi completed only 17 of 37 passes for 227 yards with no TDs and three picks. Tyler Hunt scored the only Spartans’ TD on a one-yard run. The Spartans dropped to 1-and-2.
