KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As of 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night, current Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller is leading the race for the position against Republican challenger Shannon D. Bagley.
According to data from the Kalamazoo County Election Results page, Fuller is leading with 77,512 votes, while Bagley is currently at a total of 61,297 votes.
Sheriff Fuller had been trailing behind Bagley on Tuesday, but pulled ahead early Wednesday morning as absentee votes were counted.
If reelected, he will be serving his fourth term in the county, having first been elected to the position in 2008. He first joined the department in 1989.
While Sheriff Fuller was unopposed in the Democrat candidate in the August Primary, Bagley had managed to defeat a second Republican challenger, Kalamazoo County Deputy Thomas Swafford on the Republican ballot.
Bagley served with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) for over 25 years, retiring in 2017. In 2015, he worked with the department as Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division.
