OTTAWA (Reuters) – Canada said on Thursday that it had imposed sanctions on an additional 31 officials in Belarus because of human rights violations by President Alexander Lukashenko and his government, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Canada and the UK together imposed a first round of sanctions last month. Canada said these sanctions were coordinated with the United States and the European Union.
