HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Firefighters are battling a massive fire at an old manufacturing building in Barry County.
It broke out around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at a building near the intersection of Mill and Hanover Streets in Hastings.
Officials with the Freeport Fire Department tell WOOD-TV that there are no reports of injuries at this time and they do not believe anyone was inside the building.
Consumers Energy’s outage map shows, as of 6 a.m., that over 6,000 customers around the area are without power due to a downed power line.
It’s still unclear what sparked the blaze. WOOD-TV says the structure was the old Hastings Manufacturing building built in the late 1800s.
