KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a fatal shooting on Kalamazoo’s Northside.
Public Safety officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Frank Street near North Burdick Street around 11 p.m. Tuesday and found a 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
First responders attempted resuscitation and other life-saving measures, but the victim was later pronounced dead.
No suspect information has been provided at this time and it’s unclear what led up to the shooting.
Police later identified the victim as 21-year-old Michael David-Jewel Clopton III.
In a press statement, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety offered their condolences “to any family or friends who have been impacted by this tragic event.”
