PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — This Wednesday, October 7, the City of Portage Parks & Recreation will be distributing free bike lights to riders who wish to increase their visibility.
According to city officials, the program is made possible by a partnership with Bike Friendly Kalamazoo.
Free bike light sets will be handed out to riders at the Celery Flats Pavilion (7335 Garden Lane) between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., and staff will install the lights while providing a tutorial of operations.
The event is first come, first served while supplies last.
Officials are reminding participants to practice social distancing by remaining six feet apart from others, as well as sanitizing hands before each installation. Staff will also wear masks during the event.
