DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila said that Detroit is not ruling out the possibility of hiring A.J. Hinch or Alex Cora for its manager vacancy.
Hinch and Cora were suspended for their role in the Houston Astros’ sign-steal scandal, but Houston and Boston fired them before instead of letting them serve their bans.
Hinch was the Astros’ manager for their 2017 World Series title and led them back to the World Series last season.
Cora was on Houston’s 2017 coaching staff, then led the Red Sox to the 2018 World Series title.
The Tigers are looking to replace Ron Gardenhire, who stepped down for health reasons just before the end of the season.
