LANSING, MI — Republican State Representative Beau LaFave has tested positive for COVID-19 and is urging young people to be careful and get tested.
LaFave is 28-years old and is the youngest member of the Republican caucus in the state legislature. LaFave says he thinks he may have become infected while he was in Lansing and not in his home district in the Upper Peninsula. LaFave was in Lansing at the Capitol last week voting on budget matters. A conference committee meeting he was expected to participate in set for today has been cancelled.
Several state lawmakers have contracted the virus this year. One state representative, Democrat Isaac Robinson, died in March, and it’s believed he died from the coronavirus.
