PORTER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies are identifying the motorcyclist who was found dead in a driveway in Porter Township.
Deputies were dispatched to a motorcycle crash around 7:30 a.m. Monday where the caller reported a man unresponsive in the driveway.
Authorities believe the victim, identified as 65-year-old Therman Lewis Preston from the Three Rivers area, was traveling southbound in the 91000 block of M-40 south of Shaw Road in Porter Township when he ran off the road, hit a metal T-post, and collided into a tree.
The victim was found ejected from the 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Deputies do not believe Preston was wearing a helmet and they say he passed from severe trauma from the crash.
During the investigation, authorities contacted several homeowners in the area and they said they heard a loud sound around 11:40 p.m. Sunday, but due to the lack of light and the heavy rain the crash scene was not found until the following morning.
No other details have been released at this time.
